Submer is a Barcelona-based infrastructure company, founded in 2015 by Daniel Pope and Pol Valls, that built its business on single-phase immersion cooling for dense servers. Since February 2025 it has also designed, built and operated liquid-cooled data centers and offered AI-as-a-service. The company says it passed 500 MW of liquid-cooled deployments in 2025.
Submer designs and manufactures immersion cooling systems in which servers sit in tanks of dielectric fluid instead of being cooled by air. In February 2025 it added two business units: data center design and construction, and data center operations with AI-as-a-service. Its first owned facility, a planned 56 MW data center in Barcelona, was announced as the first phase of further deployments in Europe.

The core range is the SmartPod family of immersion tanks, first launched in 2018, including the hyperscale SmartPod EXO platform. Submer also sells modular data center systems and, through its newer units, offers data center development, operations and GPU or AI-as-a-service capacity.

It is headquartered in Barcelona and, according to its October 2024 funding announcement, operates a manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas, with expansion focused on the U.S. and Asia-Pacific.

Submer is privately held. In October 2024 it announced a $55.5 million growth round led by M&G's Catalyst strategy, with Planet First Partners, Norrsken VC and Mundi Ventures. In January 2025 a EUR 20 million debt facility from Banco Santander brought the round to EUR 70 million, according to its legal advisers RCD.
